Watch this video for using polynomials.
New Polynomial Button |
To begin a new polynomial, click this button. All the edit boxes will be blanked for new data. |
Polynomial OK Button |
Click this button when all the constraints are entered and ready to use in the kinematics. If the coefficients have not been computed, they will be computed before the form closes. |
Save Constraint Button |
After one set of constraints have been entered, or, matched, click this button to save the constraints to the Polynomial Constraints table below. |
New Constraint Button |
Click this button when a new set of constraints are to be entered. This will blank out the edit boxes for new data. |
Match All Button |
This button will place all the ending parameter values of the previous segment in the relevant edit boxes. HINT: to save time, click this and then alter the value, or values desired. NOTE: Matching values is only available for the beginning of the segment. |

Table of Entered or Matched Constraints |
Each set of constraints will be listed in this table. To edit a constraint, click on the row of that set and all the values will be shown in the edit boxes above. |
Coefficients of the computed polynomial |
If the Compute Coefficients button is clicked, the coefficients for the polynomial will be computed and shown here. |
Cam Position |
This is the cam position for the set of constraints being entered, or matched. The constraints are based on the segment cam positions; therefore, the beginning cam position will always be zero and the ending cam position will be the ending segment amount. For example, if this cam segment is 45 degrees, the the beginning cam positin will be 0.000 deg. Matching of constraints will only be allowed at cam position of 0.0000. |

Disp. Constraint |
Enter here the value of the displacement for the cam position above. If this is a matched value, it will be the ending displacement of the previous segment. |
Ending Disp Prev Seg |
This is for information only. It is the value of the displacement at the end of the previous segment. |
Velocity Constraint |
Enter here the value of the velocity for the cam position above. If this is a matched value, it will be the ending velocity of the previous segment. |
Ending Velocity Prev Seg |
This is for information only. It is the value of the velocity at the end of the previous segment. |
Accel Constraint |
Enter here the value of the acceleration for the cam position above. If this is a matched value, it will be the ending acceleration of the previous segment. |
Ending Accel Prev Seg |
This is for information only. It is the value of the acceleration at the end of the previous segment. |
Delete Button |
Click on a constraing in the table and click this button and it will delete all of the row in the Polynomial Constraints table. |
Jerk Constraint |
Enter here the value of the jerk for the cam position above. If this is a matched value, it will be the ending jerk of the previous segment. |
Ending Jerk Prev Seg |
This is for information only. It is the value of the jerk at the end of the previous segment. |
