This tutorial will instruct the user in the data entry for a linear cam with a translating roller follower.  You can watch a video of this tutorial here:

 

Linear Translator

 

PROBLEM: A linear cam is to move a vertical follower 1 inch while the cam moves 2.5 inches, then stay at that position while the cam moves 2 inches further.  The cam then retracts 2.5 inches as it allows the follower to fall back to the starting position and stays at that position as the cam retracts back another 2 inches.

Cam Drawing:
